Cat dragged in :: October 14th, 2003 ::
So, I’ve just written my second memo of the year, and am this close to starting the third one. The formal structure of legal writing is being burned into my brain by writing briefs for every single class I’m taking. I’ve read roughly 600-700 pages of text since school started back in August, and I’ve retained a surprising amount of it. I’ve felt the writer’s callous on my middle finger reassert itself after years of lying dormant while I was working in the Web industry.
Most situations now assert themselves as potential liabilities, and I often find myself asking, “given these facts, what sort of case could be established?” The term prima facie has real meaning, and I have developed this nasty tendency go over past events to try to figure out if there was a tort suit that could have been pursued. I go to sleep thinking about the number of states in which the courts might be able to assert personal jurisdiction over me, and I wake up thinking about what I would have to do
n the other states so that their courts might have the same power. I would characterize law school as a growth experiencce, and it has been quite exciting for me. I realize, however, that it probably hasn’t been as much fun for those who share a life with me. But her patience has been noted and very much appreciated indeed.
It’s been a quiet month around here. It’s good to be back.
