A Day Late :: August 13th, 2002 ::

The 12th of August seems to be a big deal as far as dates go. Many things happen on the 12th of August.

There is, of course, the Perseid Meteor shower. Intermittent streaks of light, some more spectacular than others, crossed our field of vision last night, which made me feel young and anticipatory. We watched the show from the deck, laying on a sleeping bag with blankets, until the it became too cold and our eyes began to close against our will.

Yesterday was also my parents' thirtieth wedding anniversary. Maintaining a relationship that long is quite a feat; I haven’t even been alive that long. Decade anniversaries (as well as birthdays) carry with them special significance — if you know my parents, be sure to wish them well, even if it is a day late.

Finally, my friend Zac’s birthday yesterday. Zac and I have known each other pretty much forever, and he doesn’t seem to mind so much when I forget his birthday. Which is a good thing, considering my propesity for forgetting. If you know Zac, be sure to wish him a happy birthday, even if it is a day late.

I hope yesterday, with all its importance, was pretty good for you, as well.
