I still have trouble with transition periods. If you haven’t guessed, I’m in a transition period right now, so I’m becoming acutely aware of how poorly I tend to deal with having a bunch of shit change in my life all at once.
Here’s what’s happening.
- Jessamyn’s coming back this weekend. I pick her up in Boston on Saturday. Or maybe Sunday. My plans depend on when she winds up getting into town.
- I’m going to confirm my position at Vermont Law School for next year. The deadline for confirmation is May 1st, so I’m going to have to get my ass in gear if I’m going to in fact say yes and have it mean something to them.
- I’m moving from the house in Barre back up to the barn in West Topsham. That means a bit longer commute to work, but it also means thrifty country living and spending much more time with a loving girlfriend.
OK, so maybe there’s only three things going on. But they’re big things, and they’re all happening in thee next few days. And it makes it difficult for me to concentrate on immediate frivolities like daily work responsibilities and, well, eating lunch.
But it’s all excellent stuff, and don’t let my griping tone fool you — I’m looking forward to all of it.
