Move to the Country :: May 3rd, 2003 ::
So, Jessamyn’s here, we’re up at the barn, and things seem to be falling into place quite nicely. Today we ran our typical Saturday errands (went to the dump, got our mail from the post office, went to the grocery store), then we came back and did some projects around the house.
We started those projects with a lot of energy, but soon after we got the milking shed organized and removed all the detritus that had built up in there over the winter, we began to lose energy. Afterward we worked half-heartedly on a few things, but soon enough we found ourselves sitting around on the couch and reading, chatting every so often about whatever.
Experiences such as today’s are a large part of my memories of my and Jessamyn’s cohabitation last year. Besides just being closer to her again, it’s been nice to reconnect with all of the activities that I missed when I was living in Barre for the winter and she was out in Seattle. And while I know that things will be different this time around, I’m still looking forward to this summer — already I feel more comfortable, more safe, and more relaxed than I have in months. And if I can preserve a small part of the life I grew used to living out here last year, I will continue to feel that way, I think.
